Over the last few years, Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns football team have been perfecting their return to being major National Championship contenders. After a period in which the Longhorns were not taken seriously, the program has been drastically transformed.
Sarkisian has done well with both high school recruiting and the transfer portal. The transfer portal has altered the landscape of college football, but it has been a very positive development for the Longhorns.
On Monday, the Longhorns were able to secure another significant pledge. This time, they included an offensive lineman in their 2025 recruiting class.
Texas Longhorns Land New Commitment From 3-Star Offensive Lineman
According to a post on X, three-star offensive lineman Jackson Christian has opted to commit to playing collegiate football at Texas.
After a lot of thought I am blessed to say, I am officially committing to The University of Texas. I want to thank all the coaches that recruited me throughout this process. Hook’em horns🤘🏼🤘🏼@KJJFlood @CoachSark @loganwilson11 @CoachJosephPNG @ScaryMcCrary pic.twitter.com/zrVkcB3xQo

Christian, from Port Neches-Grove, chose the Longhorns over a number of other prestigious colleges. In addition to Texas, he was considering offers from Texas A&M, SMU, Texas Tech, Colorado State, Houston, and North Texas.
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 290 pounds, Christian is a large and imposing presence on the line. He became the first offensive lineman to commit to the Texas Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class.
Quarterback K.J. Lacey, running back Rickey Stewart, tight end Emaree Winston, defensive tackle Brandon Brown, linebacker Elijah Barnes, and edge rusher Lance Jackson have also committed to the Longhorns in this class.
Prior to signing Christian, the Longhorns had the No. 10 recruiting class in the country for 2025, according to On3 Team Recruiting Rankings. His dedication will undoubtedly help them continue to rise in the rankings.
On May 29th, the Texas Longhorns will discover the outcome of their recruitment of fellow 2025 target and four-star running back James Simon. Landing Simon would be a significant step forward for Texas’ offense.
All that being said, this is a fantastic move for Sarkisian and the Longhorns. Christian will provide another huge body and big-time potential to what has become a consistently strong offensive line.
