The Blue Devils will play another outgoing transfer next season
A small tendency is forming among Duke basketball departure transfers.
TJ Power committed to Virginia, and Christian Reeves has now done the same.
On Thursday afternoon, the 7-foot-1 center revealed his commitment to Clemson, which will remain in the ACC, after appearing in only 16 games for the Blue Devils in his two seasons with the team.
Reeves’ major difficulty in Durham was injuries, which required numerous ankle operations.
He had left ankle surgery during his freshman season and right ankle surgery during his sophomore year, cutting his season short. He was able to redshirt after sustaining the injury, giving him three seasons of eligibility left.
Reeves finished his Duke career with 25 points and 18 rebounds.
The Oak Hill Academy (Va.) product was a three-star recruit who was buried in a recruiting class that included Dereck Lively, Kyle Filipowski, and Ryan Young, who transferred to Duke. According to 247Sports, he is regarded as the No. 420 player on the transfer portal.
As a sophomore, Reeves had the potential to gain a spot in the Blue Devil rotation because the club needed a center, but he was unable to show himself before his season was cut short due to an ankle injury.
Christian Reeves, like TJ Power, will not return to Cameron Indoor Stadium next season because Duke’s only regular-season matchup with Clemson will be on the road.
The Tigers are coming off their first Elite 8 appearance in 44 years, but they will need to replace a lot of skill from that historic team.
After announcing their transfers from Duke, only Jaylen Blakes and Jaden Schutt remain undecided. Jeremy Roach (Baylor), Mark Mitchell (Missouri), Sean Stewart (Ohio State), and Power (Virginia) have arrived at their new destinations.
