The San Francisco 49ers added De’Vondre Campbell

The Packers and 49ers recently swapped defensive players. The 49ers signed former Packers linebacker De’Vondre Campbell to a one-year deal this offseason while Dre Greenlaw recovers from an Achilles injury sustained during the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Green Bay Packers have released defensive lineman Rodney Mathews. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction on Thursday.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Packers claimed defensive end Spencer Waege off waivers.

According to the 49ers, Waege spent the 2023 season on their practice squad:

“Waege (6-5, 295) signed with the team as an undrafted free agent on May 2, 2023, and was waived on August 27, 2023.” On November 15, 2023, he re-signed with the team’s practice squad, where he will spend the rest of the season.

Waege has 104 tackles, 10.5 sacks, and four punt blocks during his college career at North Dakota State, according to the school’s website.
